West Caicos
is at the western edge of Caicos chain. It is now getting lots
of attention because of the involvement of the Ritz Carlton Hotel,
which will have beachfront condominiums. This is a 5,500 acre
island where only 12% of the land mass is being developed.
The master plan includes a full service marina with boats slips,
beachfront properties, and three residential development areas
called Logwood Beach, Sunrise Beach and Due West Settlement. The
airport here will be increased to a 6,000-foot runway. Harbor
Town will be designed as an 18th Century British Colonial style
waterfront village. This will have a commercial area, dock
master’s office, charter services, small stores, restaurants
and much more. West Caicos is a 15-minute boat ride from
Providenciales and will have a customs and immigration area for
entry. Sales of the Ritz Carlton condos and beachfront lots
have been brisk, thanks to great international media attention.
Molasses Reef - Ritz Carlton: Molasses Reef on West Caicos
will feature 125 ocearfront suites located over a half mile of
beachfront, a marina, two restaurants, a spa, a business center,
three pools and a tennis pavilion. Completion of the Resort, approximately
45 condominiums/villas and the marina is scheduled for early to
mid 2008.
