South Caicos is 22 miles across the Columbus Passage from Grand Turk.  It is 8.5 square miles in size and is known for it’s fishing and diving. The Spiny Lobster and Queen Conch have been the main exports. It was the largest salt producer from about 1670 to 1964.   700 acres of the land were sold on South Caicos with it being developed into small plots that have been sold.  This, along with the planned refurbishment of the International airport there, makes the investment future for South Caicos very promising. An  new international marina in the planning stage will be able to dock boats going further down into the Caribbean or are going up to the Gulf of Mexico.  Condominiums are also getting built on the island.  Population is approximately 800 residents.
